I was IM-ing with a former co-worker... one who was into dream interopretation, and we got to chatting about which people in our lives made appearances in our dreams. Then I realized something. I don't usually dream about anyone in particular. I do notice, though, that my wife is always there, even if I don't see her... Sort of like my subconscious is telling me, "Well, it goes without saying..."

So there I was, sitting here in Austin, talking to my dad on my AT&T Wireless phone. I had been chatting with him for a good half-hour, when suddenly I heard a woman on the line [and I use the term "line" ever so loosely] saying, "Who's this?" I said, "Excuse me?" The rest of the conversation is as follows...

Her: "Y'all called me. This is Anthony's mom!"
Me: "Who the hell is Anthony?"
Her: "Anthony is my son."
Me: "Well, I was just sitting here talking to my dad in Montana, and you came on the phone."
Her: "Well this ain't Montana." (sounding rather agitated)
Me: "...but you're Anthony's mom. That much I know."
