NPR recently did a story about bloggers in Iraq. Some military bloggers have gotten in trouble because their writings run the risk of revealing too much information. In the interest of operational security, they say, such blogs should be censored. The bloggers, however, believe that the superiors are just trying to censor the soldiers' true feelings about the war. Yeah, believe it or not, some soldiers don't like the fact that we're at war. Soldiers are just people, and people will believe according to their convictions. You can't tell a soldier how to feel.

I don't like the war either, but on the other hand, part of my job is to be loyal to my unit, my superiors, the Army, and my country. As much as I may hate things that are happening in Iraq, I understand that we're all doing an important job.

Some folks are just listening to the media too much, and getting sucked into the whole anti-war sentiment. It's fun to bash the guy in charge. Truth is, being president involves incredibly difficult decisions. Being the commander of an infantry unit has also got to be unbelievably stressful. But with as much criticism as the President and military commanders receive, those critics couldn't do any better.

Brian, I am glad you too feel that the chain of command including the CIC are doing a difficult job and that those that complain would not do better. I am so tired of all of the criticism of our being in Iraq. If you have the computer time, read iraqthemodel.blogspot.com,/
Written by 3 brothers who have a lot to share as far as the feelings of the Iraqis about the Americans and what liberty means to them. It will give you knowledge that our troop efforts are appreciated. Our troops are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep up the good work.

I,m taking an english course in college and wa reading you'r blog. i know it's kind of old but yo posted one from july 27, 2004 called Daddy & Son. well i wanted to comment on that a little. i almost know how you feel in a sense. you don't want you'r child growing up thinking you'r choosing your job over you'r family. because my father is a movie producer and director and is gone alot. but he is always reassuring how much he loves me. and just doing so means so much more than any gift. but one thing you have is you braveness going into this and courage. and you are going to have a son be able to say "My daddy's a hero" because you truely are. and it'll be all worth it. in the long run you'r son will understand. he may eventually follow in you'r footsteps. yor's hearts in the right place.

stay well be safe,

MIKE
