We've hit October now, and you know what that means: Fire Prevention Month! Please make sure you know what to do, should such misfortune find you. Also, make sure your smoke detector is in working order. Ours goes off when we burn dinner -- I mean, when we cook things "blackened" -- so we know it works.

I was recently "voted in" to join the Jollyville Fire Dept. Pretty exciting. I'll be training, hanging out at the station, and even helping w/ the website. For what it's worth, I had applied to join the department several months before the 9/11 events. But enough about me and my tooting my own horn... If you can, feel free to donate to the "New York Fire 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund." The fund supports "the many children, spouses and family members left behind by the firefighters and emergency medical personnel who perished in the World Trade Center tragedy."
